Hourly Wage to Monthly Salary Calculator

This calculator converts an hourly wage into weekly and monthly pay based on Korean labor standards. Enter your hourly rate, hours per day, and days per week, and it estimates your monthly salary both with and without weekly holiday pay (juhyu sudang) — a paid rest-day allowance that applies when you work 15 or more hours per week. Korea's 2026 minimum wage is ₩10,320 per hour. All results are pre-tax amounts.

Full-time at minimum wage (40 hours/week)

At the 2026 minimum wage of ₩10,320, working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week gives weekly base pay of ₩412,800 plus weekly holiday pay of (40 ÷ 40) × 8 × 10,320 = ₩82,560. The monthly equivalent including holiday pay is about ₩2,152,457, or ₩2,156,880 using the standard 209-hour month.

Part-time, 3 days a week (6 hours/day at ₩12,000)

Weekly contracted hours are 18, which is at least 15, so weekly holiday pay applies: (18 ÷ 40) × 8 × 12,000 = ₩43,200. Combined with base weekly pay of ₩216,000, the monthly equivalent is about ₩1,126,286.

Short part-time, 2 days a week (5 hours/day at ₩11,000)

Weekly contracted hours are 10, which is under 15, so no weekly holiday pay applies. Weekly pay is ₩55,000, or about ₩238,988 per month.

FAQ

Who qualifies for weekly holiday pay (juhyu sudang)?

Under the Korean Labor Standards Act, workers whose contracted hours are 15 or more per week and who complete all scheduled workdays that week are entitled to a paid weekly rest day. If you work 40+ hours per week you receive 8 hours' wages; below 40 hours it is prorated as (weekly hours ÷ 40) × 8 × hourly wage. It applies regardless of employment type, including part-time work.

How do I know if my pay violates the minimum wage?

Korea's 2026 minimum wage is ₩10,320 per hour. Divide your total pay by your actual paid hours (including weekly holiday hours); if the result is below ₩10,320, it violates the Minimum Wage Act. Some welfare benefits such as meal or transport allowances may partially count toward the minimum wage, so contact the Ministry of Employment and Labor hotline (1350) for borderline cases.

How much is deducted for taxes and insurance?

All results here are pre-tax. If you are enrolled in the four major social insurances, roughly 9-10% is deducted for national pension, health insurance, and employment insurance, plus withheld income tax and local income tax. Daily workers are taxed differently — for example, no income tax applies on daily pay up to ₩150,000 — so actual deductions depend on your employment type.

Are night or overtime premiums included?

No. This calculator covers base pay for contracted hours plus weekly holiday pay only. Workplaces with five or more employees must pay at least a 50% premium on top of regular wages for night work (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.), overtime, and holiday work, so add those separately if they apply.

What does the 209-hour month mean?

For a 40-hour week, adding 8 paid holiday hours gives 48 hours per week. Multiplying by the average number of weeks per month (365 ÷ 12 ÷ 7 ≈ 4.345) yields about 208.57 hours, rounded up to 209 — the standard monthly hours used for salaried workers in Korea. The official 2026 minimum monthly salary of ₩2,156,880 (10,320 × 209) is calculated this way. This calculator multiplies by 4.345 directly, so results may differ slightly from the 209-hour figure.

What is weekly holiday pay?

Weekly holiday pay (juhyu sudang) is a uniquely Korean entitlement under Article 55 of the Labor Standards Act: workers who complete all their scheduled workdays in a week receive one paid rest day. Part-time and hourly workers qualify as long as their contracted hours are at least 15 per week.

Workers on 40 or more hours per week receive a full day's (8 hours') wages as holiday pay; below 40 hours it is prorated as (weekly hours ÷ 40) × 8 × hourly wage. Failing to pay it constitutes wage theft, and workers can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.

Korea's minimum wage system

The minimum wage is a legal floor on pay that employers must meet. Each year the Minimum Wage Commission deliberates and the government announces the following year's rate; for 2026 it is ₩10,320 per hour.

The minimum wage applies to all workers covered by the Labor Standards Act regardless of employment type or nationality. Any employment contract clause paying less than the minimum wage is void for that portion, and the worker is deemed entitled to the minimum wage instead.
